As part of the promotion of the FOI Freedom of Information Act, members of the public have the right to request for access to certain records and information regarding the day to day activities of the Directorate. It is confirmed that records that are permissible to be viewed, are available upon request. An Officer of the Directorate has been given the responsibility of processing and responding to requests for information made under the Act.

The Act provides that a public institution may deny an application for any information which contains: information compiled by any public institution for administrative enforcement proceedings and by any law enforcement or correctional agency for law enforcement purposes or for internal matters of a public institution that:

  • Interfere with pending or actual and reasonably contemplated law enforcement proceedings conducted by any law enforcement or correctional institution.
  • Interfere with pending administrative enforcement proceedings conducted by any public institution.
  • Deprive a person of a fair trial or an impartial hearing.
  • Unavoidably disclose the identity of a confidential source.
  • Constitute an invasion of personal privacy under Section 15 of this Act, except where the interest of the public would be better served by having such record being made available, this exemption to disclosure shall not apply, and
  • Obstruct an ongoing criminal investigation.

The Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) administered by the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) is guided by existing laws and circulars on Pension management.
